What is a personal AI agent?

A personal AI agent is AI software that works for one person: you give it a goal, it plans the steps, takes actions such as searching the web or operating a website, checks with you on anything consequential, and returns a finished result. It differs from a chatbot, which answers within a conversation but does not carry out tasks.

The three parts of an agent

  1. 01

    A planner

Turns your goal into concrete steps. Good planners write steps you can read before anything happens.

  2. 02

    Tools

Web search, a browser, files, calendars, email. An agent is only as useful as what it can touch.

  3. 03

    A loop with checkpoints

Execute a step, look at the result, decide the next move. The important design choice is where the human sits in that loop.

Personal versus enterprise agents

Enterprise agents are configured by a company for a job: invoice processing, support triage. A personal AI agent is configured by you, for your own life and work, and usually lives inside an app you already use. It needs to be approachable, careful with your accounts, and honest about what it did and did not do.

What to look for

  • Can you watch it work, and take over? Agents that operate websites should show you a live view.
  • How does it handle your passwords and cards? Credentials should never pass through the model.
  • Does it ask before sending, buying or submitting?
  • Does each step return something real, or only a status update?
  • What does it cost per task, and does it stop cleanly when stuck?

Where Pebs fits

Pebs is a personal AI agent by Nox, powered by GHI-1, with character-based interaction: you talk to Miso or Orbit. It uses a Cloud Browser with a live view and takeover, routes secrets through secure cards, and pauses for approval before anything consequential.
